Bible Story Mark 14:3-9 The Poor Will Always Be With You A woman anointed Jesus with very expensive ointment. Some who were there were angry that so much costly ointment was wasted. They wanted to know why the ointment hadn't been sold and the money given to the poor. They scolded the woman. Jesus told them to leave the woman alone, and he praised her, saying her caring for him was very important. Jesus said, "The poor will always be with you, and you can show kindness to them any time. But it is important to spend time with me."
There is a lot of emotion in our world right now. There are a lot of differing opinions regarding the best way to move forward and create a more just society. These verses call us to remain calm and spend time with Jesus. Jesus will lead us when we seek his guidance. It is easier to remain calm when we trust our future to God.
