Happy Flag day everyone!

Be blessed with today's scripture, Rev. Dr. Sandy Seaton-Todd

Bible Verses

Psalm 20:5 In the name of our God we will set up our banners.

Psalm 60:4 You have given a banner to those who revere you to be displayed in truth.

Mark 1: 16-18 Jesus Calls the First Disciples As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea for they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, "Follow me and I will make you fish for people." Immediately they left their nets and followed him.

We will never go wrong if we follow Jesus. The challenge is that there are misunderstandings about what following Jesus looks like in today's world. May we take our cue directly from God, by tuning in to the Spirit, listening to Jesus himself, in scripture, in prayer, in silence, in nature, with openness, in full surrender to love and unmerited mercy.

Let us consciously ask Jesus every day, every moment, to lead us in every thought, decision, relationship, action, word, and way of being. Some decisions and situations are more complex and challenging than others. But God will honor our intention if we truly are humble and open, desiring to be followers of Jesus without any agenda of our own.

God bless our communities, our country, our world. God bless us individually and collectively. May we be a blessing in whatever way God chooses to use us.
