There are times when life is really hard. Even then, maybe especially then, we can choose to live with authenticity and hope.
Authenticity enables us to be real about how hard things are, about how much we are hurting, and full of pain, struggle, discouragement, and brokenness.
Hope enables us to believe in a future when things will be better, and to believe that God will carry us through our hard times and help us use our experiences for good.
Things certainly happen that we cannot understand. We do not need to pretend we understand, or explain things away with easy platitudes.
It does help to remember that God loves us unconditionally, that God holds our future, is with us in our present, and redeems our past. And God can use all things for good and help us be a blessing to others who are going through hard times. It also helps when we are real enough to cry with each other, laugh with each other, rejoice with each other, and believe in a future with hope for each other.
