Bible Story Resisting Temptations Matthew 4 Before starting his ministry, Jesus fought against temptations in the desert. The devil tried to get Jesus to turn stones into bread, to test God, and to lure Jesus with all the luxury and power in the world. But Jesus was able to resist the devil, saying, "Humanity] does not live by bread alone but by the Word of God."
When we stay in the Word, we receive strength to resist temptation and be strong in the face of the demons in our lives. Life is hard, but God is good! God is the One who has the strength we need, and God freely gives us the strength we ask for. I know someone who stopped smoking cold turkey by picking up his Bible every time he wanted a cigarette and reading until the urge passed. He kept his Bible with him at all times during that period. It can work for you too! The Word of God has power!
